Los Cabos Old Favorites
Flora’s Farm Kitchen
Offering farm-to-table family-style dining, Flora’s serves organic heirloom vegetables from their own farm as well as locally raised organic meats. The salad is likely to have been picked and washed a few hours before you order it. Brunch is a don’t-miss, with decadent cinnamon rolls, fluffy herb scrambled eggs and to-die-for lemon ricotta pancakes. Lunch brings velvety soups, sandwiches with house-cured meats and freshly baked breads and hand-rolled pastas. Dinner is pizza and every other sort of deliciousness: the menu changes daily based on what’s freshest. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available. Throughout the season, take a walking tour of the farm and perhaps a cooking class. The secret is out: in high season, reservations are HIGHLY recommended.
La Osteria Wine Bar & Restaurant
Charming little restaurant and music venue located in the heart of San Jose’s Art District. This local hot spot serves tapas, tacos and Mexican fare with a great selection of Mexican wines and some of the best margaritas in town. The open air courtyard has live music several times a week – don’t be surprised if you find a celebrity in the midst! U2 has been known to pop up and join the band. This is a great place to visit after dinner in the Art District or at Flora’s. Reservations are recommended when live music is scheduled.
Breeze at the One&Only Palmilla
A dreamy getaway for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon snack. Breeze’s al fresco venue overlooks the Vista Pool and the Sea of Cortez on the south beach of the resort. Enjoy an internationally inspired menu of light fare with everything from quesadillas and ceviche to sandwiches and salads, and some of Baja’s best tropical drinks.
Los Cabos New Hotspots
Cocina de Autor
Just opened in December 2016, this offering by Dutch chef Sidney Schutte (who earned two Michelin stars at Librije’s Zusje in the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam) and spent four years in Asia at Hong Kong’s acclaimed Amber) is an eight- to ten-course fantasy tasting tour located in the over-the-top Grand Velas Resort.
Toro Latin Kitchen and Bar
Worldwide restaurateur Richard Sandoval brings his Latin/Asian fusion A-game to Los Cabos with Toro, located in the Punta Ballena area. Don’t miss the tuna tiradito with ponzu and avocado, the Peruvian-influenced seafood and sweet potato misto, or the ceviche bar.
Frida: Home of the World’s Most Expensive Taco
Perhaps an odd choice from a restaurant named in honor of a Communist (Frida Kahlo), but big spenders can celebrate Taco Tuesdays in style with this gold flake, lobster and caviar-encrusted version, wrapped in an humble corn tortilla? The price? A cool $25,000 (for two).
