Once Ive found that perfect setting, I firmly believe in building the perfect vacation home to suit it. Cliff Road Estate is literally built into a preserve, offering so much privacy, its as if you have your own private Nantucket. Incredibly, you remain mere steps away from the beach, trails and the very best boutiques and restaurants that Nantucket has to offer. Though to me, the piece de resistance for this property is that it accommodates four families or more while allowing each person their own very private space and bonding opportunity. Gathering at your leisure is an unhurried affair, free of stress.

I personally oversaw the construction and decorating in this vacation home, and I put some of my favorites here: Waterworks fixtures, dramatic cathedral ceilings, four balconies, which all blend into the most open and light-filled atmosphere. Famed architect, Andrew Kotchen suggested a porte cochere, so that we could preserve a little old-world style, free of todays hustle and bustle.

My secret favorite spot? The rooftop widows walk offers an unparalleled view of Nantucket Sound, perfect for watching Fourth of July fireworks.
